New York Climate Exchange
Expected to open near Yankee Pier in 2028, the physical expression of The New York Climate Exchange on Governors Island will complement its programs, serving as a living laboratory that itself is a subject of study. The entire campus has been influenced by Georgia Tech's experience with green infrastructure and our Living Building: The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design.
Like The Kendeda Building, The New York Climate Exchange's physical structures are being envisioned to showcase regenerative, accessible, and innovative design, engineering, and operations solutions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support climate resilience.

Kendeda Building

The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design is the first building in Georgia and 28th in the world to earn Living Building Challenge (LBC) certification, the world’s most ambitious and holistic green building achievement. Rather than being less bad for the environment, The Kendeda Building fosters regenerative and restorative relationships amongst humans and nature where people give back more to the environment than they take.
